A Distinguished Leader in the Mechanical Engineering Industry Deepayan Kumar Das, an accomplished alumnus of IIEST Shibpur and IISWBM Kolkata, brings over 26 years of profound experience in the Mechanical Engineering industry. His career spans multiple sectors, including Capital Equipment, Industrial Consumables, Industrial Distribution, Condition Monitoring, Maintenance Strategy, Industrial Services, HVAC, and Metrology. Renowned for his leadership acumen, Mr. Das has developed a strong reputation in areas such as Country Management, Business Management, P&L Management, Turnaround Management, Team Building, and Strategic Account Management. After completing his BE in Mechanical Engineering from IIEST (formerly Bengal Engineering College DU) in 1997, Mr. Das pursued an MBA with a specialization in Marketing from IISWBM Kolkata. He embarked on his professional journey with Atlas Copco India Limited, a global leader in air compressors, air treatment equipment, and mining products. Throughout his career, he has worked with several prestigious international companies, including SANDVIK, SKF, and Bry-Air, gaining valuable insights and expertise in each of these organizations. Currently, Mr. Das serves as the Managing Director of Mahr Metrology India Pvt. Ltd., heading the Indian subsidiary of Mahr GmbH. His leadership has been instrumental in turning Mahr Metrology India Pvt. Ltd. into the fastest-growing subsidiary within the Mahr Group, achieving an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 25% in the last three years. His tenure at Mahr has been marked by innovation and strategic growth, and he continues to push the boundaries of excellence within the company. In addition to his role at Mahr, Mr. Das is recognized for his outstanding contributions to other businesses. He founded URB India Bearings Pvt. Ltd., a 100% owned subsidiary of the URB Group, and grew the company into a successful $8 million venture in just three years. As Business Head (Services) for SKF, he successfully redesigned the company’s engagement strategy with key strategic accounts. This initiative led to SKF being recognized with the prestigious Supplier of the Year Award from major companies such as Vedanta, Ultratech, and Tata Steel in 2014–15. Mr. Das’s commitment to professional development is evident in his ongoing pursuit of excellence. He completed the “SKF International Management Program” in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2011, and in 2009, he was selected as one of the youngest managers in Asia to be nominated for SKF’s esteemed “Asia Leadership Program.” His passion for business growth and profitability, coupled with his dedication to building and nurturing high-performing teams, sets him apart as a leader in his field. Currently, Mr. Das is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration from Rushford Business School, Lucerne, Switzerland.
